GALLIPOLIS, OH - - David Lee Powers, age 68, of Cheshire (Addison Community), passed away Saturday, January 20, 2007, at his residence.
Born January 26, 1938, in Marion, Ohio, he was the son of the late Kenneth Ray and Erma Leona Heskett Powers. He attended the University of Cincinnati and was a graduate of Kent State University. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and also served in the Ohio Air National Guard.
A mechanical engineer, he was retired from the Imperial Electric Corporation in Middleport, Ohio.
He was a member of the New Life Lutheran Church, B.P.O.E. Lodge #107 at Gallipolis, founder and member of the Athens Barbershop Chorus, French City Treblemakers Barbershop Chorus, former member of the Charleston (WV) Barbershop Chorus, Midwestern Tools Collectors, Ohio Tools Collectors, Ducks Unlimited, and The Society of Mechanical Engineers. David sang in three area quartets.
Survivors include his son, Dr. David G. (Lynn) Powers of Killingworth, Connecticut; two grandchildren, Nicholas David Powers and Addison Rachel Powers; a sister, Professional Photographer Nada J. Bunnell of Cleveland, Georgia; two nieces, Dawn Stringer of Cleveland, Georgia, and Amy Kerby of Gainesville, Georgia; and his significant other, Nancy "Benny" Gooldin of Gallipolis; and numerous friends.
